Congratulations on snagging yourself a British Man! This is surely an exciting time in which you are still swooning over his lovely accent, and how deliciously European he is. You could just listen to him talk forever, right? About anything. Well, swoon away, girlfriend, I've been there myself. Yes, sometimes he uses phrases that are so foreign that you don't know what the hell he's talking about, but rest assured that in no time at all, words like "tea", "Jaffa Cakes", "Red Card", and "git" will all become part of your daily vocabulary.

The care and feeding of your new British man may take some adaptation and a sense of humor, but take heart- with enough love and patience, you can train him as well as any other man to be worthy of your company. RL post, since someone (babydee1 ) sorta yelled at me for not letting people know I was alive. ;-)

Anyway, I was thinking this morning about what to get the Irishman for his birthday, and while I was smiling to myself about how awesome he is, it occurred to me how often I squee about other men when I'm on LJ. Yes, the men that make me squee are all fictional, but the actors portraying them are not. And when I'm mooning over The Green Arrow's naked chest, it's obviously Justin Hartley's that I'm talking about. Fortunately, Seamus takes this with a lot of good humor, and gets me back by offering to draw a dimple on his chin, etc., because he is also a wiseguy. *g* But I just want to set the record straight, because even though I suspect everyone knows it, I just don't say it enough:

None of them, not the characters, not the actors, can hold a candle to the man I was lucky enough to marry. He is, by far, the most gorgeous man I have ever laid eyes on, and his spirit is even more beautiful than the outside of him. The first words out of my mouth when I saw him for the first time were, "I think I'm in love," and the funny part is that I thought I was joking when I said it. (The first words out of his mouth when he saw me were, "Crazy American woman," but we're not going to dwell on that part. *sheepish grin*)

He is, in every possible way, the hero of my life. And no matter whom I may sigh over while on LJ, I just want everyone to know- all those guys are merely standing in his wake.

So here's to the men who swept us off our feet, and who still manage to do it, even if it's just by doing the dishes when we're tired, holding our hands while riding in the car, and giving us a strong shoulder to cry on when the world seems out to get us. Here's to the men who are heroes, even if they don't wear tights. ;-)

As usual with me, I am very late to this particular party, but I did finally arrive.  I finally watched "Twilight" to see what all the fuss was about.  I expected to think it was just a boring, teeny-bop movie.

Instead, I am freaking HOOKED.  I don't even know why I'm surprised.  I mean, the angst of a supernatural being who's trying to give up the woman he loves so she doesn't get hurt is a concept that couldn't POSSIBLY seduce me, right? Yeah, I'm a total goner.

Right now, I am so engrossed in the Twilight universe that I think I'm growing fangs.  I even banged out a Twilight fic last night, without even trying.

Is anyone else on my f-list into Twilight?  And should I post the fic, do you think?

Okay, as an ex-ballet dancer, I am somewhat understandably addicted to So You Think You Can Dance.  I just learned that my favorite dancer, Billy Bell, had to leave the competition due to illness.  :-(    This young man is as close to perfect as it gets on the dance floor- his line, technique are absolutely flawless.  I sure hope whatever happened to him won't keep him from returning next season.  I can't wait to see him back in action.

Thanks to tariel22 , monicaop , and gen717  for all my lovely birthday gifts!  I'm having a great birthday today and y'all rock for making it even better!  :-D

I wrote this for my f-list, who haven't had the best of weeks.  For those of you who've decided to stop watching, I can only say that ignoring the show was probably the best thing I ever did with regards to Smallville.  (So hooray for you!) And giving myself better endings through fanfic was the second best thing.  Nothing the show does can change the subtext that works for me: that Clark is in love with Chloe, and always will be.   And everything he does revolves around that fact.

So this is for you guys- remember that Chlark, the deepest, most meaningful, and most intimate relationship on the show, will always be the true story underneath, no matter what happens.
